Family Promise of Metro East is a newly forming interfaith shelter to serve homeless families in NE and SE Portland. Our shelter, which we plan to open later this year, will provide shelter and case management to families as they do the hard work of getting back into stable housing.
We are thankful for the support of many congregations and organizations who are opening their doors to provide shelter, meals and support: Community of Christ, Ascension Catholic, Central Christian, Tabor Heights United Methodist, Portland Mennonite, Grant Park Church and Family Pentecostal Church of God. With your help, we can make a difference in the lives of families in our community!
#NightWithoutABed is a social media challenge that raises awareness for families experiencing homelessness. We ask participants to sleep anywhere without a bed: cars, a tent, a tree house, living room floor, a couch and use the hashtag #NightWithoutABed to post a video blog or photo with a short blog entry to describe their experiences. In the run-up to the event, participants will challenge another friend to complete the #NightWithoutABed or make a donation to Family Promise.
