Family Promise of Metro East Waitlist Application
Our shelter is at capacity but accepting waitlist applications at this time. Filling out the application will put you on our waitlist and you will be called when we have space. If you would like someone to answer your questions regarding shelter in Multnomah County Oregon or help direct you toward other family shelter resources, please call or email our Family Navigator at 503-272-1589 or La'Asia@familypromisemetroeast.org between 10 am and 5 pm, Monday through Thursday.
Guest criteria:
  • Family Promise of Metro East serves families only, which includes any composition of families with dependent children under the age of 18 and as defined by the child(ren).
  • Family members must agree to remain clean and sober during their stay with Family Promise of Metro East.
  • Background checks will be done on all adult family members, screening for crimes against children and violent crimes prohibit entry. This does not mean a felony charge automatically excludes a family.
  • Families are not fleeing domestic violence- often Family Promise is not the best fit for these situations.
  • Families want and agree to participate in our program, working with our staff to overcome barriers to and apply for sustainable housing.
  • Families are aware that this is a rotational shelter model and although it is a secular organization, they will be spending most nights at a place of worship and the Day Center is located in a church.  Volunteers are trained to not evangelize or in any other way bring up religion into their service and conversation with our guests.
  • As a rotational shelter our guests, the families we serve, will be at our Family Day Center during the day, if they are not working or doing other tasks related to getting housing.  At night they will go together to a host site.  There volunteers will provide dinner and breakfast and our guests will have a place to sleep.  They will stay at the same host site a minimum of a week at a time and can leave their overnight items there.  Transportation will be provided.
  • Family Promise of Metro East's Family Day Center and Host Sites may have stairs that could be difficult to navigate for some people.  Please keep this in mind when adding your or someone else's name to our wait list.
  • Qualifying families will be given space based on a first come, first served basis as room permits.
